12/14/2024 CANCELLED DUE TO WIND!!! – Plant Trees & Support Salmon – Habitat Restoration Volunteer Event in Woodinville

December 14 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Volunteer with Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group on the King County Parks-owned West Sammamish River Trail in Woodinville to restore Chinook, Coho, and Sockeye salmon habitat!

This will be a special planting event because we will be working with livestakes! We have over 1,000 livestakes ready to get in the groud! Species include Stika Willow, Red Osier Dogwood, and Douglas Spirea.

Livestakes are clippings taken from mature native plants, usually 3 to 5 feet long. After harvesting, clippings are steaked into the ground where they can grow into an entirely new plant. Not all plant species can be propagated using livestakes, but this is a common planting technique for willows and other shoreline plants.

Most of our event time will be dedicated to planting these livestakes, and any remaining time will be spent clearing invasive Himalayan Blackberry from the river’s shoreline.

Upon signing up you will receive a confirmation email from VolunteerMatch. Mid Sound’s Stewardship Coordinator, Molly, will send a reminder email with event details and the youth wavier the Wednesday before the event.

**If you are under 18 and attending without a parent or guardian, please also print and fill out the Youth Waiver Form and bring it with you to the event!**
