Learn How to Co-Exist with Carnivores at September “Salmon, Science & Suds”

Have you seen carnivores in and around your neighborhood? Do you wonder how to successfully coexist with carnivores?

Join us at Salmon, Science & Suds at the Rogue Alehouse on Wednesday, September 18 in Issaquah to hear Kodi Jo Jaspers, the Community Conservation Liaison from Woodland Park Zoo’s Coexisting with Carnivores (CWC) Project. The event starts at 6:30pm with 30 minutes for networking; Kodi Jaspers will speak at 7:00pm.

Kodi will discuss urban carnivores such as coyotes, bears and raccoons and coexistence. The CWC project is working with volunteers throughout the Issaquah area to deploy remote cameras and develop active solutions for coexistence with carnivores. Come learn more about the project, carnivore ecology and safety tips.

Kodi Jo started with Woodland Park Zoo in May 2019. She has also worked as a wildlife biologist in Eastern Washington for almost 6 years. In her role as a biologist, she has directly supported projects with many different species such as golden eagles, bighorn sheep, gray wolves and pronghorn. In her new role at the zoo she is bringing together her hands-on experience with carnivores and her master’s degree work in conservation education to grow and support carnivore coexistence projects in the greater Seattle area.

Salmon, Science & Suds speakers address water quality, healthy fish populations, and habitat restoration. The series is offered to share interesting research and initiatives currently improving the health of the Sammamish watershed. The evening will also include a raffle, great food and beer and good company.

Please RSVP by email: director@flssp.org or Eventbrite. Last minute drop-ins welcome. Rogue Ales Brewhouse is located at
35 W Sunset Way in Issaquah.
