Join us for a fun day on the Sammamish River in Woodinville with King County Parks and Tom Douglas-Rub with Love Volunteers! Enjoy the crisp air of fall and do something meaningful for salmon and clean water. We’ll be working from 9am-12:30, we’ve been having some great turnouts and we’d love to see you there!
All ages are welcome, we work rain or shine! Tools, gloves, and snacks provided.

- The Sammamish River is home to 6 species of salmonids, Chinook, Coho, Sockeye, Steelhead, Kokanee, and Cut Throat Trout! Check out Salmon SeeSon to see salmon returning this Fall.
- The Sammamish River was straightened, deepened, and channelized between the 30’s and 60’s greatly reducing the risk of flooding and creating easier passage for boats. It actually shorted the river by several miles! However, it lead to a complete disconnection to the river’s floodplain, loss of healthy riparian habitat, the loss of hundreds of acres of wetland, and high water temperatures in the river, not good for salmon.
- Our volunteers have worked hard to clear invasive species and mulch ~4,500 sq feet along the river! We’re creating space to plant native trees and shrubs to help shade the river, cooling water temperatures and creating cover for migrating salmon.
